                              Maatra thistah  parangmukahaah|            Atharva 8.1.9

Don’t be like a person with dead mind in this world.

               Vedas instruct,

                                  Maa gathanaama  didhithaa|            Atharva 8.1.8

Don’t feel sorrow for those who are already dead and gone. The meaning of this statement is the prosperity of this worldy life gets ruined if we keep on feeling sorrow for those who are already dead and gone.

                   Vishwadaaneem sumanasah syama|             Rigveda 6.52.5

We should under all circumstances be cheerful and happy like a blossomed flower

Flowers keep cheerful even in the midst of thorns. Like wise we also should learn to be cheerful and happy even in the midst of difficulties. Just look at the flower

Flowers keep happy and cheerful. Cheerfulness is as much necessary as masticating for the proper digestion of food. Hence, Vedas repeatedly instruct to keep laughing and cheerful.

Jayaa putraahah sumanasho bhavanthu|           Atharva 3.4.3

Let the women and sons be cheerful minded.

Kamaa jyesta eha madayadwam|          Atharva 9.2.8

Oh men and women! While being cheerful in the household life give rise to good progeny. Manu while reflecting the same views says as under.

Yadi hee stree na rocheta pramamsam na  pramodayeth|

Apramodatutpannah  pumsah  prajanam na pravarththe||           Manu 3.61

Where women don’t please their husbands, there would be no good progeny as husbands would not be cheerful.

                 Mahasaa  moda maanav|

Sugruhav taratho jeevavrishaso vibhathih||             Atharva   14.02.43

Oh men and women! Be happy and pleasant   in your sleeping room. While keeping happy and cheerful be men of good conduct with strong and healthy body organs.  Have good children and spend time happily in a good house.

Vedas abound with such beautiful thoughts. You never come across such noble thoughts in any books of faiths.

          Here are some wise sayings.

       Smile is pleasure,

       Smile is pain,

Smile when troubles pour like rain,

Smile when some one hurts your feelings,

Because know smile is always healing.

A smile that cheers the heart is like sunshine that spreads happiness.

                                                        Anon

A smile says many things. It says you are happy. You are confident. You are feeling secure. Armed with a smile, no challenge is too formidable.

Tw Mc Knight and RH Phillips.

Of all the things you wear, your smile is the most important.

Keep smiling. It makes every one wonder what you have upto.

                                                                                      Anon.
